The Regional
Mid-Level Managers' Symposium series was launched in 2000 as the
local version of the annual Mid-Level
Managers' Symposium held in Washington, DC each October in conjunction
with the annual Recognition Awards Dinner.
Smaller in
size (maximum 100 participants) and more intensive in focus, the
regional Symposium offers opportunities for corporations to enrich
their leadership development efforts for African-American managers
with three or more years of corporate management experience. Various
symposium events also support professional development for multiracial
teams with accountabilities for Human Resources, Organizational
Development and Diversity.
The all day
Symposiums run from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., are interactive, focused primarily
to address the needs of African American managers and managers with
diversity accountabilities. Symposium format includes plenary sessions,
small breakout groups, Q&A, and offers participants opportunities
to:
- Interact
with ELC executives
- Connect
with a peer network of executives from diversity-oriented companies
- Examine
career strategies and insights with Dr.
Price Cobbs, an internationally renowned psychiatrist, author
and corporate management consultant to Fortune 500 companies.
- Be exposed
to corporate diversity resources such as Pro Mosaic, a diversity
assessment tool, and
- Get information
about forthcoming ELC events.
Regional Symposium
topics have included "The Art of Fitting Into Corporate America"
and "Unscrambling the Diversity Puzzle."
