Technology
Transfer Project (TTP) -- Partnerships at Work
|
In keeping
with the Foundation's commitment to preparing future African
American corporate executives, the Executive Leadership Foundation
has developed the Technology Transfer Project (TTP), a program
designed to facilitate the acquisition, implementation, and
utilization of technology throughout Historically Black college
and university (HBCU) campuses.
The Technology
Transfer Project (TTP) assists Historically Black Colleges
and Universities (HBCUs) in their quest to prepare their students
for both personal and professional success in the technologically-driven
21st Century. Many HBCUs currently lag significantly behind
majority institutions in taking advantage of technological
advances. The TTP offers networking capacity and infrastructure
building, IT strategic planning, faculty
development initiatives, and student development
opportunities to selected HBCUs.

TTP
Mission Statement
The Technology Transfer Project's primary mission is to assist HBCUs
prepare their graduates to compete for management and leadership
positions in a corporate environment that is more and more affected
by and dependent on technology.
The TTP seeks
to promote awareness among HBCU faculty and students of the technology
tools that are used in the workplace and to encourage the use of
that knowledge to make the classroom a laboratory to gain experience
with those tools. To that end, the TTP facilitates both the acquisition
of enabling technology components and the development of human resources
with the capacity to conceptualize, plan, and implement technology-based
learning aids. It is the human component, after all, that must exploit
the technologies to provide maximum benefit in the learning environment.
The Technology Transfer Project recognizes that technology projects
often fail because of the lack of attention to human readiness.
It is perhaps, the emphasis on the human element of technology launching
that makes the TTP somewhat unique.
The TTP also
matches its partner institutions with corporate and association
initiatives to enhance their academic environments through the use
of technology. Partnerships have been developed with the following
industry and organizational partners.
- Booz, Allen
