Global Internships | Next Generation Programs | Technology Transfer Project

Sponsored by bp, ExxonMobil, and Shell Oil Company

The Global Internship Program (GIP) is a multi-year partnership between the Executive Leadership Foundation and Executive Leadership Council member companies. The program provides career training and international exposure to African-American students preparing for work in the global marketplace. Approximately 25 interns will participate in the program between 2002 and 2004.

During the first year, interns will undergo an orientation program in the United States to prepare for work abroad. The following year, interns will receive an overseas work assignment through one of the sponsoring companies. Assignments will span the globe.

The primary goal of the program is to develop a pool of talented, culturally competent individuals who can be considered for employment in the sponsoring companies. The training provided can also prepare participants for work within international organizations, careers in the Department of State, international careers in higher education, and other positions requiring cultural competency about places outside of the United States.

Both undergraduate and graduate minority students (within two years of matriculation) are eligible for the program. The application deadline for 2002 is February 28, 2002.
