Since 1994,
the annual Mid-Level Managers' Symposium has provided professional
development to more than 3,000 African-American mid-level managers
in corporate America. The event is held the day following the Executive
Leadership Council and Foundation's annual Recognition Dinner held
in October in Washington, DC.
Both the Dinner
and the Symposium provide opportunities for minority and majority
executives from corporate America to network, honor the achievements
of African-American executives and pro diversity companies working
to transform the corporate landscape.
The Symposium
is developed and moderated by Dr. Price
Cobbs, internationally renowned psychiatrist, author, and corporate
management consultant to Fortune 500 companies. It has featured
guest keynoters such as Dr. Ella J. Edmondson Bell, Associate Professor
of Business Administration at the Tuck School, Dartmouth College.
The all day
Symposium, running from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., attracts about 500 African-American
corporate managers with 10 or more years experience in corporate
America. Panels comprised of ELC members and corporate CEOs stimulate
frank, open discussion about the corporate climate and diversity
issues in the corporate workplace.
The topic for
the 7th Annual MLM Symposium was "The Challenge of Change in
the New Millennium."
